The silver Attic tetradrachm of Thasos from the 2nd century. B.C., depicts the right profile bust of Dionysus at a young age. He wears a ribbon on the forehead and he is wreathed with ivy and adorned with two bouquets. His hair is caught behind, while two curls are hanging at the nape.
The reverse side bears the inscriptions IRAKLEOUS, SAVIOR and Thassios left, right and down respectively. It also depicts Hercules naked, standing upright in front and turning his head to the left. He supports his right hand in a vertical bat, while on his left arm, that is resting on his thigh, is hung the fleece of a lion. Between the body of Hercules and the bat the number 66 is engraved. The original silver coin has a diameter of 32 millimetres and weighs 15,1 grams.
Ancient coins from Thasos are exhibited at the Archaeological Museum of Thasos, in the island of Thasos.
