A spindle whorl is a disc or spherical object fitted onto the spindle to increase and maintain the speed of the spin.

This spindle whorl is a finding of ceramic art in Cyprus, dating to the Bronze Age. The spindle whorls were used for spining fiber and produced mostly from clay or stone. They, usually, had engraved decorative designs. The clay and stone spindle whorls, provide us with important information on weaving and weaving techniques in prehistoric Cyprus. Weaving was a flourishing craft in ancient Cyprus and its products were widely traded.
