Horses are symbols of strength, beauty and pride.The ancient Greeks used horses in warfare and chariots, but also at the Olympic Games, thatwere necessary for the chariot races and the equestrian events. The presentation is inspired by a relief from the base of a kouros statue, found in the wall of Themistocles in Athens, dated to 510 B.C. The paper weight is made of brass, plated in silver solution 999°.

Among the first wild animals that were tamed by the mankind isthe horse. Horses for the ancient Greeks were a symbol of power, beauty and pride. According to Homer, who often referred to them in his epics, the horses are distinguished in common, that serve mortal people, and immortal, which are horses of gods and kings. Particularly famous was Bucephalus, the legendary horse of Alexander the Great, which belonged to the tribe of Thessaly. Also, horses were depicted draging the chariot of a god, like the horses of Poseidon, or the god of sun, Helios.
The horses were used by the ancient Greeks in warfare, usually tied up in chariots, with charioteers and warriors or with a single rider. They also had an important role at the Olympic Games, at the chariot races, in which they were bound on chariots and at the equestrian sports, in which the athletes raced on horseback.
The presenattion is inspired by a relief from the base of a kouros statue, that is displayed in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens.
