The Argonautic expedition was named after Jason's ship, the Argo, which in turn was named after its builder, Argo. The crew was named after the ship and they were called the Argonauts. The relief is made of copper gilded in a 24 carat gold solution and placed on an acrylic base.

The javelin throw is a sport feature of the ancient Olympic Games and a part of the ancient Pentathlon. The depiction of the sport is inspired by the representation of the sport on an ancient red-figure kylix.
